About the Role

This is a fantastic opportunity to join our team at Ecocareers and work with a forward-thinking organization within their Energy Services Department. They are committed to embracing and implementing new technologies to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions, making this an exciting role for anyone passionate about sustainability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Management: Deliver a range of energy and carbon-saving projects, including building retrofit projects, expanding district heating networks, and overseeing feasibility studies by external specialists. This involves end-to-end project management, including:
  1. Project Inception: Identify opportunities for energy savings and develop strategies to deliver them
  2. Project Development: Build up the project, including working with relevant stakeholders, calculating cost estimates, carrying out a cost-benefit analysis, developing project documentation, and seeking formal approval for the project
  3. Funding and Procurement: Secure funding, which may involve writing external funding bids, and draw up tender documents to procure contractors to deliver the project
  4. Project Delivery: Manage contractors during project delivery, ensure stakeholders are involved throughout, and deal with any issues that arise during delivery
  5. Project Closure: Complete the project, ensure objectives are met, and hand over to operations
Reporting and Analysis: Prepare reports, statistics, and other information as requiredStakeholder Engagement: Maintain effective relationships with other departments to identify energy-saving opportunitiesResearch and Development: Keep abreast of and assist with research into new sustainable energy technical, policy, and legislative developmentsEnergy Statement Review: Review energy statements of planning applications to ensure planning policies related to energy have been correctly implemented and provide feedback to staff and developersCommunication: Deal with correspondence with councillors, residents, local businesses, other council officers, suppliers, contractors, and other public sector agencies related to energyRepresentation: Attend meetings to represent the Energy Services team where required

Requirements: To be suitable for this position, it is essential you have an Energy, engineering, building services, or construction-related degree or equivalent qualification. Experience of delivering energy-related projects, ideally in a public sector environment, is also required.
