Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Traffic Control Specialist to join our Infrastructure Management team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for responding to incidents on provincial highways, including traffic accidents, spills, and emergency situations that affect the highway and the safety of the traveling public.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a primary liaison between provincial and local police, fire, and emergency responders during incident management
- Communicate with the Ministry of Transportation Traffic Operations Centre by 2-way radio and telephone to provide information and updates pertaining to incidents
- Responsible for completing incident reports
- Coordinate detour routes in the event of an asset (system or road) closure
- Conduct follow-through investigations on all fatalities to determine if facilities contributed to the accident
- Track and maintain files on all major incidents and accidents involving assets, personnel, and equipment within contract limitations
- Assist with the administration of third-party claims by gathering documentation, paperwork, and other relevant information
- Coordinate special events involving traffic control, detours, and/or closures
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School Diploma - required
- Minimum of 2+ years' work experience in highway maintenance operations, freeway traffic control, and incidents/accidents management
- Valid Class DZ driver's license is required with a good driving record to drive company vehicle
- OTM BOOK 7 certification required
Working Conditions/Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is routinely exposed to outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, high precarious places, fume or airborne particles, and frequent exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals.
