Position Overview

Reporting to the Senior Director of Information Technology, the IT Support Specialist plays a crucial role in delivering efficient and friendly IT assistance to users while helping to maintain the organization's network and system infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

User Support:

  • Manage escalated support tickets within the internal tracking system.
  • Collaborate with external IT service providers.
  • Respond promptly to urgent requests via phone.
  • Participate in weekly production meetings as required.
  • Assist users with commercial software applications.
  • Contribute to both internal and user-focused projects.
Management of Work Tools:
  • Set up, update, and secure computer systems.
  • Oversee industrial equipment such as scanners and printers.
  • Maintain printer functionality and manage print queues.
  • Support mobile devices including tablets and smartphones.
  • Manage equipment for meeting rooms and display screens.
  • Oversee telephony systems including phones and voicemail.
Equipment Oversight:
  • Ensure adequate inventory of IT equipment and supplies.
  • Handle installation, shipping, and relocation of IT assets.
  • Track repairs and manage critical equipment effectively.
  • Plan and execute preventive maintenance for IT equipment.
  • Maintain organized IT storage areas.
  • Document equipment, software, and procedures accurately.
  • Keep an updated inventory of all IT devices.
Network and System Maintenance:
  • Monitor and manage network devices such as switches and routers.
  • Maintain Internet connections and troubleshoot network issues.
  • Assist in optimizing and updating server operating systems.
  • Monitor system performance to ensure reliability and security.
  • Collaborate on infrastructure upgrades and expansions.
  • Maintain organized cabling and documentation in IT cabinets.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Completion of a vocational diploma or college diploma in IT support.
  • 2 to 3 years of relevant experience in the field.
  • Familiarity with ticketing systems.
  • A+ certification is a plus.
  • Proficient in Windows and M365 environments.
  • Experience in the manufacturing industry is advantageous.
  • Strong customer service and teamwork abilities.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Quick problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong willingness to learn.
  • Experience in a multi-site environment.
  • Competence in workstation setup and diagnostics.
  • Knowledge of computer hardware and peripherals.
  • In-depth understanding of Microsoft network environments.
  • Familiarity with telephony and Apple devices is a plus.
  • Experience in maintaining and supporting network and system infrastructure.
