Electrical Protection Specialist

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Protection and Control Coordinator to join our team at Yukon Energy. As a key member of our Electrical Maintenance team, you will provide technical, design, and project management services for assigned capital and O&M protection, control, and other electrical projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the design and implementation of electrical protection and control systems.
  • Provide technical support for electrical maintenance and repair activities.
  • Develop and implement project plans and schedules.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Perform journey-level electrician work, including new equipment installations and asset rebuilding.

Requirements:

  • Two-year diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited post-secondary institution.
  • Journeyman Electrician or Power System Electrician certification an asset.
  • Proven project management experience.
  • Minimum three years experience testing and maintaining protective relays.
  • Proficient in Windows-based computer applications and manufacture-specific software.
  • Ability to read and work off blueprints and interpret drawings, diagrams, and specifications.
  • Experience with high-voltage test equipment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to preventive/predictive maintenance programs.
  • Strong client service orientation and good interpersonal skills.
  • Valid Class-5 driver's license and First Aid certificate.
