About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Practical Nurse to join our team at RT Medical. As a key member of our healthcare staff, you will provide exceptional patient care and support to individuals in long-term care facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer Medications and Treatments: Safely administer medications and treatments as prescribed by healthcare providers, ensuring accurate dosages and timely delivery.
  • Monitor and Assess Residents' Health: Regularly monitor and assess residents' health conditions, identifying potential issues and taking proactive steps to prevent complications.
  • Provide Wound Care and Dressing Changes: Provide expert wound care and assist with dressing changes, promoting optimal healing and comfort for residents.
  • Collaborate with Healthcare Professionals: Work closely with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement comprehensive care plans, ensuring seamless coordination and effective patient outcomes.
  • Educate Residents and Families: Educate residents and their families about health conditions, treatments, and self-care techniques, promoting empowerment and independence.
  • Ensure Residents' Safety and Comfort: Ensure residents' safety and comfort by identifying and mitigating potential risks, and providing a supportive and respectful environment.
  • Document Residents' Health Status: Accurately document residents' health status and care provided, maintaining detailed records and contributing to quality improvement initiatives.
  • Respond to Emergencies: Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies, providing immediate care and support as needed.
Requirements
  • Diploma from a Recognized RPN Program: Hold a diploma from a recognized Registered Practical Nurse program or equivalent.
  • Registered Practical Nurse in Good Standing: Be a Registered Practical Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Experience in Long-Term Care: Possess experience working in a long-term care or retirement home setting, with a strong understanding of the unique needs and challenges of this environment.
  • Physical Abilities: Demonstrate the physical ability to stand, bend, walk, crouch, kneel, and reach, with the ability to lift 50lbs (23 kg) independently and assist clients with standing, walking, and sitting.
  • Valid Standard First Aid and CPR: Hold valid Standard First Aid and Level C CPR certification.
  • Updated Immunization Records: Maintain updated immunization records, including completion of a two-step tuberculosis test within the last 6 months.
  • Clear Vulnerable Sector Checks: Have clear Vulnerable Sector checks completed upon hire.
  • Excellent Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact with others in a caring, tactful, and courteous manner.
  • Valid G2/G Driver's License: Hold a valid G2/G driver's license and have access to a reliable vehicle, with a minimum of 100% vehicle ownership.
