Position: Senior Site Reliability Engineer

In the role of Senior Site Reliability Engineer, you will take charge of the architecture, upkeep, and development of tools that ensure the dependability of our applications. As a vital member of the Loblaw Technology SRE Team, you will engage with various engineering teams across multiple sectors. Your main objective will be to facilitate the adoption of cloud-native solutions and to create tools and capabilities that enable us to construct more robust and resilient systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Design, architect, and implement cloud-native solutions utilizing services such as Kubernetes, AppEngine, Cloud Functions, CloudSql, BigQuery, and Pub/Sub on Google Cloud Platform and Azure.
  2. Serve as a subject matter expert in at least one area of business or tooling, diving deep into code, presenting innovative ideas to leadership, and sharing knowledge with the team and broader organization.
  3. Identify and troubleshoot deficiencies in existing frameworks, tools, and processes, proposing creative solutions to minimize waste and drive continuous improvement.
  4. Build and manage infrastructure as code, maintain our high-quality codebase through code reviews, and collaborate closely with development teams to automate CI/CD pipelines, streamlining operational needs.
  5. Create custom instrumentation for observability using OpenTelemetry and implement anomaly detection.
  6. Mentor new team members and contribute to shaping the SRE discipline across the organization.
Qualifications:
  1. Hands-on experience in software engineering, computer science, computer engineering, or a related technical field (experience with programming languages such as Java, Python, or GO is advantageous).
  2. A strong passion for troubleshooting technical challenges and automating solutions to reduce manual effort.
  3. A mindset that embraces both Development and SRE perspectives (i.e., software and infrastructure).
  4. Familiarity with Cloud Native platforms (knowledge of Google Cloud Platform is a plus).
  5. A proactive sense of ownership and a desire to innovate and build from the ground up.
