As a Buyer in our BC Region office, you will play a vital role in our operations:

Key Responsibilities
  • Source and acquire materials, assets, and services while adhering to established policies and procedures, ensuring cost-effectiveness and ethical practices.
  • Identify and evaluate vendors for consumables, ensuring compliance with specifications, pricing, quantity, quality, safety, and delivery timelines.
  • Enhance your understanding of commodities by collaborating with procurement professionals and utilizing supplier resources.
  • Prepare and issue necessary purchasing documents, applying relevant purchasing agreements to daily transactions.
  • Build and maintain constructive, customer-oriented relationships with stakeholders.
  • Assess, identify, and escalate potential risks that may impact project outcomes, timelines, and activities.
  • Oversee all facets of the purchasing process with suppliers, coordinating deliveries and addressing material discrepancies, overdue deliveries, warranty claims, and returns.
  • Analyze requests for quotes and interpret information requests effectively.
  • Resolve disputes between purchasers and suppliers regarding standard purchases.
  • Leverage market knowledge and relationships to enhance current processes and introduce initiatives that drive value and efficiency.
  • Ensure preventive maintenance and minor repairs are conducted on operational equipment.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma required.
  • A Bachelor's degree in a related field is advantageous.
  • Preferred experience of at least 1 year in supply chain or procurement.
  • Basic knowledge of construction processes, project life cycles, and relevant resources and equipment.
  • Understanding of applicable procurement laws, regulations, best practices, and supply chain processes.
  • Familiarity with commonly used construction materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Clear comprehension of the concept of 'Best Value'.
  • Strong negotiation and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with a readiness to adopt new technologies.
