Georgia-Pacific is seeking a dedicated Production Team Leader for our Oriented Strand Board (OSB) manufacturing facility in Englehart, Ontario. Our building products division produces a range of materials including DensGlass gypsum board commonly used in commercial construction, DryPly plywood, and RESI-MIX wood adhesives.

As a Production Team Leader, you will guide a team of up to 25 production and maintenance associates to achieve their goals in production, quality, safety, and reliability.

This role involves working within a manufacturing plant environment, which may include extended periods in noisy, non-air conditioned or unheated areas. You will be assigned a shift schedule that could encompass day, night, weekend, and holiday work hours, with the possibility of changes throughout your employment.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Lead a wood products production team to ensure a safe and incident-free work environment within a continuous manufacturing process.
  • Supervise and coordinate production efforts to enhance all associated work processes, impacting EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety), compliance, reliability, quality, production, and costs.
  • Foster team development and growth by providing opportunities for employee skill development, problem-solving, and resolution. Cultivate a culture of employee commitment and ownership while holding individuals accountable for their performance.
  • Champion safety excellence by promoting employee involvement, ownership, and accountability to proactively eliminate hazards.
  • Monitor product quality and provide guidance to crew members to maximize efficiency.
  • Assist in troubleshooting production issues.
  • Deliver safety training to crew members.
  • Provide coaching, team development, and performance management.
  • Complete data entry responsibilities and generate reports.
Your Qualifications:
  • 2 or more years of supervisory experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment OR a process engineering role. OR
  • Experience at a GP site with demonstrated leadership capabilities.

AND

Working knowledge of MS Word (creating, editing, formatting documents, preparing reports) and Excel (creating, modifying spreadsheets, using functions to analyze data). Ability to learn and use various PC, software, and cloud-based software systems. What Sets You Apart:
  • Bachelor's Degree with a preference in a technical or business discipline.
  • OSB (Oriented Strand Board) manufacturing experience.
  • Experience and application of safe work practices – Lock Tag Verify (LTV); Hazard Analysis / Awareness.
  • Experience coaching, counseling, and developing employees.
