Bantrel Co. is in search of a skilled Regional Planning Specialist to enhance our team. This position is primarily office-based, with necessary site assessments. The Regional Planning Specialist will oversee the planning and scheduling of various stages of engineering, procurement, and construction, focusing on the Energy, Mining, and Infrastructure sectors. You will have the opportunity to mentor junior and intermediate planners while contributing to significant projects such as the BHP Jansen Potash Mine Project in Saskatchewan.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with engineers, procurement experts, construction supervisors, and management during the planning and execution phases of projects.
- Engage with the Client Project Management team to provide effective planning and scheduling solutions.
- Develop Resource-loaded Baseline Schedules and Schedule Basis documents, outlining execution strategies and key assumptions.
- Continuously update and manage project schedules, ensuring accurate progress and performance tracking.
- Conduct independent analyses and propose solutions to address potential schedule delays.
- Work alongside project controls teams, including cost analysts and estimators, to synchronize schedules with cost estimates and earned value systems.
- Evaluate potential changes against project scope and execution plans, offering insights on schedule impacts.
- Supervise junior and intermediate schedulers, particularly in relation to construction interfaces.
- Facilitate the management of interfaces between construction and commissioning phases.
- Collaborate with the team on Integrated Level 4/Level 5 schedules from Construction to Pre-commissioning.
- Oversee schedule coordination among engineering, procurement, and construction teams.
Qualifications:
- A degree in Engineering or Business, or a relevant qualification in Planning/Scheduling, Project Controls, or Project Management.
- At least 10 years of experience in Planning and Scheduling.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in developing construction schedules.
- Experience in cost control and monitoring is preferred.
- Background in the Canadian oil, gas, petrochemicals, and mining & infrastructure sectors, ideally with Engineering or EPC Consultants.
- Familiarity with CPM scheduling concepts.
- Proficient in Oracle Primavera P6.
- Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Proven ability to identify, analyze, and resolve issues effectively.
