The ideal candidate must possess a valid Second Class Steam Ticket in the province of British Columbia.
Position Overview:
Accoravillage is actively seeking a qualified individual for the role of Second Class Power Engineer at our facility. This position reports directly to the Chief Power Engineer and involves collaboration with our Operations Team.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Monitoring all operational processes and equipment
- Responding to emergencies and abnormal conditions while adhering to established protocols
- Conducting routine operational tasks (e.g., monitoring levels, temperatures, pressures, etc.)
- Observing the operating area for any irregularities
- Performing basic troubleshooting as needed
- Conducting proper sampling as required
- Assisting in the preparation of equipment for maintenance
- Creating notifications to initiate repairs on equipment or units
- Carrying out housekeeping duties and operational maintenance as assigned
Qualifications and Requirements:
- The successful candidate must hold a valid Second Class Steam Ticket in the province of British Columbia.
- 10+ years of experience as a boiler/turbine operator and 15+ years in a steam plant environment
- Extensive technical expertise related to steam plant operations and water treatment equipment, with a strong foundation in boiler/turbine operations
- Mechanical aptitude and skills for hands-on operation of plant equipment (e.g., DCS control systems, turbo generators, pumps, compressors, heaters, etc.) and performing routine preventive maintenance
- Familiarity with Bailey Infinity/Delta V control systems or similar operating control systems
- Knowledge of W.H.M.I.S., TDG, and OH&S regulations
- Able to work and communicate effectively within a team environment
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Capable of working independently most of the time
- Required to utilize tools for minor tasks
- Organized, energetic, punctual, and a self-starter
- Previous experience in a food processing or manufacturing setting is preferred
The work schedule consists of 12-hour rotating shifts, including evenings and weekends during processing periods, and may involve day shift maintenance for the remainder of the year. This full-time permanent position is governed by a union collective agreement, offering a comprehensive benefits package and company pension. A pre-employment medical and drug screening is mandatory.
