About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Retail Buyer to join our team at New Furniture Gallery. As a Retail Buyer, you will be responsible for purchasing merchandise for resale, maintaining adequate stock levels, and negotiating prices with suppliers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Market Research: Study market reports, trade periodicals, and sales promotion materials to stay up-to-date on industry trends.
  • Product Sourcing: Arrange products according to planograms and select merchandise for resale.
  • Supplier Management: Establish and maintain contact with suppliers, negotiate prices, discounts, credit terms, and transportation arrangements.
  • Inventory Management: Review requirements of the establishment and determine quantity and type of merchandise to purchase.
  • Trade Show Attendance: Visit trade shows, showrooms, factories, and product design events to stay informed about new products and trends.
Requirements
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Work Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in a retail business setting.
  • Language: Fluency in English.
  • Work Hours: 30 to 35 hours per week.
Desirable Skills
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in spreadsheet software, internet, MS Access, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint, and MS Word.
  • Personal Qualities: Excellent oral and written communication skills, client focus, judgement, and analytical skills.
