Music Therapist

We are seeking a skilled Music Therapist to join our team at West Coast Seniors Housing Management. As an independent contractor, you will work closely with our recreation team to design and implement music therapy programs that promote the mental and physical well-being of our residents.
Responsibilities- Develop and maintain professional relationships with residents and care staff to create personalized music therapy programs.
- Direct and participate in instrumental, vocal, and listening music activities to engage residents and promote their interests.
- Provide instruction and guidance to staff on the execution of music therapy programs.
- Assess therapy sessions to monitor effectiveness and resident interest levels.
- Maintain accurate records and evaluate client progress.
- Participate in the selection and purchase of necessary materials.
- Prepare updates to discuss in care conferences.
- Maintain a safe environment for residents, family, and staff.
- Bachelor degree in Music Therapy and at least 1 year experience preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Music Therapist-Board Certified.
- Comfortable working with seniors.
- Good physical and mental health to meet the demands of the position.
- Experience programming for Alzheimer Disease and related Dementias is an asset.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently and understand verbal and written instructions.
- Good interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Basic computer skills including Word, Publisher, and Outlook.
