The role of the Registered Practical Nurse is vital within our community, significantly influencing the well-being of residents and nurturing the essence of human connection.
As a Registered Practical Nurse, your daily responsibilities will include:
• Administering prescribed medications and treatments as directed by the Physician, adhering to the Medication Administration Standards set by the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Documenting and addressing all concerns raised by clients, families, or team members, and collaborating with the Registered Nurse or designate for further assistance.
• Encouraging clients' self-care and independence, focusing on their strengths and promoting overall wellness through preventative health education.
• Completing necessary assessments, RAPS, and care plans within the required timeframes.
• Providing guidance, direction, training, and education to unregulated care workers.
• Performing additional duties as assigned.
Essential qualifications include:
• Active registration as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Valid Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certificate.
• Current Medication Administration Certificate.
• At least one (1) year of experience in Geriatric Nursing, Healthcare, or Rehabilitation as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN).
• Successful completion of the Vulnerable Sector Check is mandatory for all applicants.
• Compliance with provincial police check and tuberculosis screening requirements as applicable.
Additional qualifications that are advantageous:
• Post-graduate studies in Geriatrics and Nursing Administration.
