Job Overview:

As the Branding and Communications Manager, you will be instrumental in shaping and executing Graymont's internal and external communications strategy. Your focus will encompass two key areas: (1) fostering a positive brand image, enhancing communications with governmental bodies, and promoting sustainability initiatives; and (2) establishing and maintaining effective communication channels between the organization and its employees to reinforce the employee value proposition, cultivate the One Graymont Culture, and enhance employee engagement.

This role demands outstanding communication abilities, strategic insight, a commitment to environmental stewardship, collaboration with stakeholders, and a strong belief in the connection between employee engagement and the company's strategic success.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Internal Communications:

  • Design and implement internal communication strategies to improve employee experience and engagement.
  • Craft engaging and timely messages that resonate with our diverse, global workforce.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent messaging across all internal platforms.
  • Recommend effective communication tools to keep employees informed and motivated, managing platforms such as intranet, newsletters, and town halls.
  • Establish feedback mechanisms to evaluate the effectiveness of internal communication initiatives.

2. External Communications:

  • Foster positive relationships between the organization and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement external communication strategies that align with growth and sustainability objectives.
  • Create press releases, articles, and other content to showcase sustainability initiatives and product launches.
  • Engage with media outlets, industry partners, and community organizations to amplify our messaging.
  • Monitor and address inquiries from external parties, ensuring accurate and timely communication.

3. Sustainability Focus:

  • Advocate for sustainability efforts by effectively communicating environmental initiatives aligned with corporate strategy and decarbonization goals.
  • Encourage a culture of environmental responsibility among employees and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the sustainability team to develop impactful campaigns and events.
  • Measure and report on the effectiveness of sustainability communication efforts.
  • Ensure alignment with industry standards and best practices.

4. Brand Management:

  • Maintain brand identity and messaging guidelines, ensuring regular updates to branding materials.
  • Create visually engaging content (e.g., reports, brochures, posters) that reinforces our brand identity.
  • Work with marketing teams and graphic designers to produce high-quality promotional materials.
  • Translate complex data into visually accessible content for diverse audiences.

5. Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate closely with marketing, HR, and other departments to align communication strategies.
  • Build relationships with communications and sustainability professionals within and outside the organization.
  • Provide guidance to organizational leaders regarding their communication needs.
  • Lead crisis communication efforts as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of direct experience in communications, preferably with a focus on sustainability.
  • Proficiency in digital content creation, graphic design, and social media management.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience with WordPress is a plus.
  • Fluency in French is an asset.
