Job Summary

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a highly skilled Public Health Engineer to join our Environmental Health team in Vancouver, BC. As a Public Health Engineer, you will play a critical role in protecting the public's health and safety through the application of Public Health Engineering practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and approve construction projects to ensure compliance with health regulations.
  • Act as a Drinking Water Officer, ensuring the safety and quality of drinking water for the community.
  • Analyze and resolve Public Health Engineering problems and related issues.
  • Provide engineering expertise and guidance to Medical Health Officers, Public Health Inspectors, and other agencies on environmental health issues.
  • Support the identification, resolution, and prevention of community environmental health problems.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A Master's Degree in a related field, supplemented by five (5) years' experience in water supply, waste disposal, or environmental management.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia.
  • Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex technical documents.
  • Knowledge of applicable computer software applications and the ability to utilize related equipment.
