We are seeking a highly skilled Bridge Design Engineer to join our team at COWI. As a key member of our infrastructure development team, you will play a crucial role in designing and developing innovative solutions for complex bridge projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement work plans, schedules, and budgets for bridge design projects
  • Conduct analysis of complex structures and prepare design calculations and drawings in accordance with applicable design codes
  • Prepare engineering reports and other technical documents, including standard construction documents and technical specifications
  • Conduct site inspections and perform other functions as required
  • Plan, evaluate, and adapt work using independent judgment and innovative problem-solving approaches

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering (Master's degree preferred), with a minimum of 4 years of related experience in bridge design
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in the home province or state, or ability to obtain registration in Nova Scotia within 12 months of employment
  • Familiarity with structural design codes such as CSA-S6, CSCE, and AASHTO, as well as experience with structural analysis software programs
  • Proficiency in engineering software such as Excel and Mathcad
  • Knowledge of parametric conceptual designs and programming environments like Dynamo and Grasshopper
  • Experience with suspension bridges, including site inspection, analysis, or design experience
  • Ability to prepare proposals and participate in business development, as well as willingness to travel
  • Excellent communication skills to deliver concise and high-quality technical deliverables
