Job Summary
The Clinical Pharmacist - Oncology Specialist will play a key role in providing comprehensive cancer care to patients at BC Cancer. This position requires a highly skilled and experienced pharmacist to work in a specialized oncology practice, providing individualized drug therapy and education to patients, healthcare professionals, and students.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized therapeutic plans for patients, utilizing patient information and collaboration with healthcare providers.
- Provide education and training to patients, healthcare professionals, and students on cancer treatment options and medication management.
- Prepare and dispense medications and other pharmaceutical supplies, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement treatment plans, and provide support and guidance to patients and families.
- Conduct research and stay up-to-date on the latest cancer treatment options and medications, and apply this knowledge to improve patient care.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy with current registration as a Licensed Pharmacist with the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia.
- Completion of a Hospital Pharmacy Residency Program.
- One (1) year of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Knowledge and competency in aseptic techniques, use of biological safety cabinets, procedures for safe handling of cytotoxic drugs, and strategies for drug information provision and critical review of medical/paramedical literature.
- Demonstrated ability to organize work and work independently.
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada, as per TRC and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act.
- Knowledge of social, economic, political, and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).
