Senior Manager, Operational Accounting

STARS is seeking a seasoned accounting leader to join our team as a Senior Manager, Operational Accounting. This role will lead the full accounting cycle, ensuring timely and accurate month-end close, and provide meaningful insights and written analysis to stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the preparation of monthly and quarterly internal reporting packages, including variances to capital and operating budgets.
- Collaborate with the Senior Manager, Corporate Accounting, to prepare external quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements.
- Lead the annual capital and operating budget process, analyzing variances and working with budget owners to achieve objectives.
- Oversee preparation of quarterly provincial government reporting and provide verbal updates to government partners.
- Work closely with the Senior Manager, Corporate Accounting, to ensure proper working capital management and cash transfers.
- Lead the Accounts Payable function and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Requirements:
- Professional accounting designation (CA/CPA) is required.
- A minimum of seven years of progressive operational accounting experience in complex, multi-jurisdictional organizations.
- Three to five years of experience in a leadership position is required.
- Established track record of strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Office 365 applications, especially MS Excel, and working knowledge of data analytics tools such as Power BI.
