The Commissioning Agent is based in the Greater Toronto Area and typically reports directly to the Division Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the overall project performance and client handover experience while maintaining excellent relationships with all parties involved (trades, subcontractors, consultants, and clients).
  • Work closely with the regional Commissioning Manager and project staff/PMs to inform them of questions, progress, discrepancies in the project design and process, and schedule.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop various commissioning, scheduling, training, and O&M documentation.
  • Coordinate site activities such as equipment start-ups, system balancing, functional testing, and training.
  • Interpret and review MEP documents and submittals.
  • Conduct site inspections, including observation reports and issues log follow-up.
  • Perform basic maintenance activities, such as greasing bearings, changing filters, tightening belts, etc.
  • General mechanical technician duties, including troubleshooting and repairing equipment.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with clients, consultants, and sub-trades.
  • Ability to understand contract documents, including drawings and specifications.

Education Requirements

  • Successful completion of a recognized HVAC and/or refrigeration certificate.
  • Successful completion of an engineering degree or commissioning certificate.

Work Experience Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting and correcting diverse mechanical service issues.
  • 3-5 years of commissioning and/or engineering experience.

Skills, Abilities, and Other Requirements

  • Available to travel to various locations and flexible hours.
  • Completion of safety training is an asset (i.e., working at heights).
  • Punctual, presentable, and respectful at all times.
