Role OverviewThe Industrial Control Systems Specialist II plays a crucial role within the global Fixed Plant Control (FPC) systems team, focusing on the maintenance and enhancement of the site's industrial control system (ICS) infrastructure.
This position reports to the Control Systems Technical Supervisor and is responsible for:
- Providing technical support and expertise for all DCS, PLC, and SCADA hardware, including configuration, troubleshooting, maintenance, and upgrades;
- Offering technical guidance for ICS networking, telemetry, and all site operational technology (OT) infrastructure, including the PI Historian suite;
- Collaborating with various departments such as operations, metallurgy, maintenance, and engineering to optimize production capacity safely;
- Working with control system vendors to manage upgrades, patches, and the integration of new products into the site ICS;
- Conducting preventative and corrective maintenance on the ICS infrastructure while continuously improving maintenance procedures;
- Utilizing Newmont's standard ICS applications for performance monitoring and reporting to enhance system efficiency;
- Implementing change requests and supporting projects in accordance with site configuration standards and change management processes;
- Applying experience in mineral processing and mining to manage risks associated with changes to the ICS;
- Participating in the global FPC community to share insights and best practices;
- Recognizing and replicating best-practice solutions from the global FPC community.
- This role is entirely site-based.
- Monitor the status of the ICS infrastructure and address any identified issues.
- Implement minor change requests for ICS software and applications.
- Support projects that impact the site ICS.
- Lead daily pre-start meetings and checks, focusing on key metrics such as alarm rates and controller performance.
- Engage in pre-start and handover meetings to stay informed about site priorities and initiatives.
- Assist in diagnosing and resolving operational and maintenance issues related to the ICS.
- Conduct internal audits and preventative maintenance, including minor upgrades and spare parts validation for the ICS infrastructure.
- Support the site OT infrastructure and applications, including the PI Historian suite.
- Participate in the global process control community.

QualificationsTraining- Essential: Electrical and/or instrumentation trade certificate.
- Desirable: Additional qualifications in process control or control systems.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience with control systems in related industries.
- Demonstrable experience with at least one of the following systems:
- Rockwell Control / Compact Logix PLCs and HMI
- CitectSCADA HMI systems
- Emerson deltaV
- Proficient PC skills and computer literacy.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
- High attention to detail and effective communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with site and broader control system teams.
- Bilingual proficiency in French and English is an asset.
- Éléonore mine site (Fly-in, Fly-out).
- Schedule: 14 days of work followed by 14 days of rest.
