Job Description

Job Title: Learning Assistance Centre Teacher

Job Summary:

The Fort McMurray Public School Division is seeking a qualified Learning Assistance Centre Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing educational support to students with special needs in an inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer individual assessments to identify student needs and develop personalized learning plans
  • Coordinate programming for students with special needs, including designing and implementing instruction to meet their unique needs
  • Support students to increase independence, enhance self-esteem, and improve social and interpersonal skills
  • Collaborate with parents, social agencies, and support organizations to ensure student success
  • Develop and maintain effective classroom management and organizational skills
  • Work with a broad spectrum of learning needs and adapt instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
  • Recognize the importance of building strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues to create a positive school culture
  • Be a reflective practitioner, continuously seeking opportunities for professional growth and development

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Education degree
  • Experience in special education, preferably in an inclusive environment
  • Ability to administer Level B individual assessments and design instruction to meet student needs
  • Strong literacy and numeracy background
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
