The total battery storage project development pipeline stands at 52 GWh, with about 2 GWh under construction or in backlog.

POSITION TITLE: Senior Control Software Engineer

DEPARTMENT: Engineering

ENTITY: E-STORAGE

REPORTS TO: Senior Director of Battery Engineering

The Senior Control Software Engineer will spearhead the development of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) capable of ultra-fast responses to dispatch commands and grid supply fluctuations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of power systems, utility generation, protection, and transmission systems, alongside familiarity with modern industrial networks and utility communication protocols.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Draft and negotiate technical requirements for fast response BESS plant controllers.
  2. Manage relationships with stakeholders, utilities, and suppliers involved in the design and delivery of fast response controllers.
  3. Oversee the testing and commissioning processes for new advanced BESS plant controllers.
  4. Guide team members and supervise workflows to ensure the timely and budget-conscious development of high-quality deliverables.
  5. Innovate new tools, implement effective processes, and collaborate with stakeholders to enhance the technology and engineering delivery value stream.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

Candidates must have relevant experience in solar PV or battery energy storage. The Digital-Twin Software Engineer should demonstrate proficiency in:

  1. Power grid, power generation, and renewable integration control.
  2. Utility market applications.
  3. Power systems modeling tools such as DigSilent PowerFactory or EMTP.
  4. Model-based control software development.
  5. Git workflow.
  6. Linux operating systems.

PROGRAMMING SKILLS:

  1. Scripting languages (Python, Batch)
  2. Database management (relationship & time series)
  3. Automated testing
  4. Familiarity with Jupyter and Deepnote

CLOUD PLATFORM EXPERIENCE:

  1. Proficiency with Azure and AWS cloud infrastructures.

EDUCATIONAL AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Minimum of 8 years of experience in control software development with a proven record of successful production deployments.
  2. A degree in engineering relevant to the industry, preferably in Electrical Engineering.
