Facilities Supervisor

This is a 12-month continuing exempt position within the School District #57 (Prince George) Facilities Services Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising and managing employees engaged in specific trades such as plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and audio/visual electronics.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and manage staff, direct work, establish priorities, and coordinate day-to-day operations.
- Liaise with school administration to address concerns and maintain safe and reliable facilities.
- Assist with the preparation of plans, specifications, and other bid documents for minor construction projects.
- Ensure that all work is carried out in a safe and efficient manner and complies with applicable regulations and policies.
- Monitor operating budgets and provide input and assistance in the planning and budgeting processes.
- Track, analyze, and provide input to improve key maintenance parameters such as work requests, time to complete, operating costs, purchasing processes, and maintenance costs.
- Coordinate and direct external service providers and consultants for various disciplines.
- Assist in the recruitment, performance evaluation, and development of staff.
- May act as a representative on the Labour/Management Committee or other committees as assigned.
- Flexibility to respond to after-hours emergent situations and attend to situations as required.
- Occasionally work outside of traditional office hours to supervise employees and contract service providers.
- Reviews employee attendance and performance and, where necessary, takes positive action for improvement.
- Grade 12 High School Diploma.
- Valid BC or Interprovincial certification in a relevant trade, or diploma in building technology, facility management, engineering degree, or other appropriate designation.
- Minimum of five years of supervisory experience in a unionized environment, including supervising tradespersons involved in facility operations and construction.
- Hold and maintain a valid BC Class 5 Driver's License.
- Successful completion of a Criminal Record Review.
- Successful completion of an annual Professional Growth Plan will be part of the expectations for this role.
