SRE Cloud Database Engineer/Designer

This role is responsible for designing, deploying, and implementing cloud database solutions for NCR Digital First Banking's Cloud SaaS offerings. The position requires a strong understanding of cloud platforms, database automation, and database design patterns.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement cloud-ready database solutions to ensure high availability, reliability, and performance.
  • Develop and maintain database automation scripts using Terraform or configuration management utilities.
  • Collaborate with Software Engineering, Enterprise Architecture, Platform Architecture, and SRE Observability Engineers to ensure seamless integration across teams.
  • Define and manage database and security standards and governance.
  • Develop and maintain metrics and monitoring strategies (SLI, SLO, etc.) for database performance and availability.
  • Accountable for backup, HA, and DR implementation and exercise.
Requirements:
  • 4-6 years of database experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in public cloud implementation.
  • 2+ years of experience in software development (DevOps and database admin automation).
  • 5+ years of datacenter technology, architecture, and operational experience.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with modern database and security tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines.
  • Proficient with Jira, Project Management tools, ServiceNow, Observability tools (Dynatrace, AppDynamics), PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
  • Hands-on experience with database managed services in cloud (like CloudSQL).
