Job Summary

Morrison Hershfield, now Stantec, is seeking a highly skilled Contract Administrator to join our Field Services team in the Windsor area. As a key member of our team, you will play a lead role in the delivery of construction administration services with the Ministry of Transportation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct and control work to administer medium to large contracts
  • Work on complex problems requiring thorough analysis of situation or data
  • Supervise a work group and ensure work on contracts proceeds according to plans, procedures, contract specifications, and quality
  • Check contract documents, review design for errors, and approve work and progress payments
  • Conduct site surveys, confirm scope of work, and obtain relevant information, equipment, and materials
  • Compile field data in report form for review of project designer
  • Prepare contract specifications, construction staging, and traffic arrangement schemes
  • Assess scope of work, monitor staff levels, and coach junior staff as required
  • Manage the construction budget, act as liaison with clients, and issue invoices as appropriate
Requirements
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology/Technician
  • Minimum 8 years' experience in Road and/or Heavy Construction
  • Demonstrated Construction Administration experience as a Contract Administrator or equivalent of 5 or more similar Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO) or municipal projects with construction values of at least $5,000,000 and $15,000,000 or greater
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer with PEO or as a Technician or Technologist with O.A.C.E.T.T. with Road Construction Contract Administration (RCCA) designation
  • Prior MTO T131 and T131A Advanced Claims Dispute Resolution training is an asset
  • Knowledge and understanding of Ontario Provincial Standards and Specifications (OPSS), Ontario Provincial Standard Drawings (OPSD), Contract Documents, including Agreement, General Conditions of Contracts, and Special Provisions
  • Knowledge of construction survey and layout, construction methods and materials, and relevant legislation such as the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Environmental Protection Act
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Access) and MS Project or Primavera
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, time management, negotiation, and conflict resolution, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • A valid Ontario driver's license and access to a vehicle
