Job Title: Senior Geographic Information System Analyst

Valard Construction LP, a leading utility contractor in Canada, is seeking a highly skilled Senior GIS Analyst to join their Right of Way Operations Department. As a key member of the team, you will provide GIS support for linear development planning, access planning, and right-of-way clearing, among other responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain GIS systems for forest operational planning, field operations, and environmental management.
  • Contribute to the design, development, and implementation of GIS solutions for water resources and environmental engineering projects.
  • Develop and maintain spatial databases, perform in-depth spatial data analysis, and ensure data quality.
  • Provide technical leadership and act as an informal resource for colleagues.
  • Develop proficiency in a range of processes and procedures through job-related training and on-the-job experience.
Requirements:
  • Minimum completion of a 2nd year in a field such as Geography, Forestry, Agrology, Environment, Planning, Computer Science, or a related scientific field with a strong focus on GIS.
  • Moderate hands-on experience through college co-op, internships, or summer work is strongly preferred.
  • 3-5 years' experience as a GIS Analyst.
  • Strong computer skills, relational database knowledge, and ability to handle multiple projects concurrently.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience or exposure to Road Eng or other civil design software is an asset.
  • GIS Professional certification is beneficial.
