About the Role

The Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the position of Manager, Accounting and Capital Reporting Services. This role is responsible for leading the accounting and financial reporting functions of the organization, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and providing strategic financial guidance to support the Board's goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the accounting and financial reporting functions, including financial statement preparation, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and Board policies.
  • Provide financial guidance and support to senior management and the Board, including financial analysis and recommendations.
  • Manage and supervise a team of accounting and financial reporting staff, providing coaching, training, and development opportunities.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure effective financial planning and management across the organization.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A degree in accounting or a related field.
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, or CMA).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting and financial reporting, preferably in a senior leadership role.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with senior management, staff, and external stakeholders.
