Early Childhood Educator Instructor

Job Summary:

The Early Childhood Education Instructor is responsible for delivering in-class theory instruction and practical coursework for the Early Childhood Diploma program at CAHRD Centre for Aboriginal Human Resource Development Inc.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver lesson plans, assignments, and assessments in accordance with an approved curriculum and Indigenous community context.
  • Deliver curriculum in an engaging and participatory manner, with a focus on community development.
  • Teach students through lectures, open discussions, audio-video presentations, and prepare resources for classroom discussion as needed.
  • Conduct research to ensure curriculum is current and relevant.
  • Identify the needs of individual students and work to help each student develop their potential.
  • Meet with students to discuss and provide feedback on their work.
  • Provide students with various evaluation opportunities for success.
  • Identify and address any issues that may be hindering a student's ability to learn to their best potential.
  • Participate in and monitor college and program activities.
  • Monitor and review students during practicum placements.
  • Maintain a professional and caring demeanor at all times towards students and staff.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary credentials in Early Childhood Education from a recognized institution, minimum ECE III.
  • Adult teaching credentials and/or experience in a teaching or training capacity in adult education.
  • Several years of experience in various early learning and childcare settings.
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated understanding of Indigenous culture within Indigenous Adult Learning environments.
  • Relevant industry skills and knowledge relating to the area of instruction, including ongoing professional development and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to consider and respond appropriately to the needs, feelings, and capabilities of students, to provide feedback and treat students equitably within the context of the Indigenous community.
  • Experience working with adult learners (18+ years and older).
  • Demonstrated ability for innovative curriculum delivery.
  • Ability to provide effective experiential learning.
