Job Summary

The Early Childhood Education Instructor is responsible for delivering in-class theory instruction and practical coursework for the Early Childhood Diploma program at the CAHRD Centre for Aboriginal Human Resource Development Inc.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans, assignments, and assessments that meet the needs of Indigenous adult learners.
  • Teach students through lectures, discussions, and presentations, and provide resources for classroom discussion as needed.
  • Research and stay current on curriculum developments to ensure a high-quality learning experience.
  • Identify and support the unique needs of each student, and help them develop their potential.
  • Meet with students to discuss and provide feedback on their work, and provide opportunities for evaluation and success.
  • Monitor and review students during practicum placements, and provide guidance and support as needed.
  • Present a professional and caring demeanor at all times towards students and staff.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary credentials in Early Childhood Education, with a minimum of ECE III.
  • Adult teaching credentials and/or experience in a teaching or training capacity in adult education.
  • Several years of experience in early learning and childcare settings.
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated understanding of Indigenous culture and its relevance to Indigenous adult learning environments.
  • Relevant industry skills and knowledge, including ongoing professional development and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to consider and respond to the needs, feelings, and capabilities of students, and provide feedback and support in a fair and equitable manner.
  • Experience working with adult learners (18+ years and older).
  • Ability to provide effective experiential learning opportunities.
