Assistant Operations Supervisor

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as an Assistant Operations Supervisor. This role will be responsible for assisting with the coordination and execution of maintenance operations, ensuring that all aspects of the contract are met in a timely and efficient manner.


Key Responsibilities
  • Contract Compliance: Ensure that all maintenance work is performed in accordance with approved performance standards and contract specifications.
  • Work Scheduling: Assist with scheduling and coordinating in-house or sub-contractor work to ensure that all tasks are completed on time and within budget.
  • Performance Management: Develop and manage the performance of patrol staff, ensuring that they are equipped to meet the demands of the role.
  • Asset Management: Assist with managing, monitoring, and controlling highway project assets and materials, identifying opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement.
  • Reporting and Administration: Complete accurate and timely work reporting and timesheets, as well as purchase supplies and maintain an inventory of materials within the assigned patrol area.
  • Training and Development: Coordinate and track all required new hire training and ongoing safety and work standard training, ensuring that all staff are equipped to perform their duties safely and effectively.
  • Incident Investigation: Investigate and report all accidents and incidents, working with the Office Manager and Health and Safety Manager to ensure that all necessary procedures are followed.
  • Schedule Management: Responsible for completing and updating schedules for winter staff to ensure compliance with the Collective Agreement.

Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma (minimum), with equivalent work experience considered.
  • Experience: Minimum three years' work experience in the construction and/or road maintenance industry, with a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

Work Environment

This role will require the incumbent to split their time between office and field work, with occasional exposure to outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold. The noise level in the work environment will be moderate to high at times.
