The position of Technical Services Supervisor entails overseeing and managing HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems that support tenant spaces. This role involves controlling operating expenses, assisting the Energy and Technical Services Manager in daily operations, and efficiently managing complex operations related to tenant utilities provided by the landlord. A strong focus is placed on team leadership, staff development, and nurturing positive relationships with tenants.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Strategically managing operating expenses through effective planning and procurement.
  • Ensuring the optimal performance of HVAC systems serving tenant areas by establishing clear operational protocols.
  • Monitoring and managing utility usage to encourage sustainable operational practices.
  • Supervising personnel, fostering positive labor relations, and providing training support.
  • Improving tenant satisfaction by cultivating strong relationships and addressing issues promptly.
  • Assisting in the oversight of Plant Operations and coordinating necessary equipment repairs.

To thrive in this position, you will need:

  • A post-secondary qualification in Building Environmental Systems (BES) or a related field.
  • FMA Designation or an equivalent certification is preferred.
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience in large commercial settings, with exposure to energy management initiatives and operational oversight.
  • Strong interpersonal, technological, and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on achieving departmental objectives efficiently.
  • Familiarity with preventative maintenance software and building automation/energy management systems is advantageous.
