Gas Systems Technician

We are seeking a skilled Gas Technician to join our team at Friendly Fires. This is a permanent position that requires a commitment to safety and quality in all aspects of gas installation and maintenance.
Work Environment- Work Term: Permanent
- Work Language: English
- Hours: 35 to 48 hours per week
- Education: Other trades certificate or diploma
- Experience: Experience an asset
The role involves working in various settings, including residential areas, often in environments that may be considered hazardous.
Key Responsibilities- Measure and mark reference points for the installation of gas lines and associated equipment.
- Repair and service gas appliances and related systems.
- Provide guidance to clients on safety standards, features, and maintenance of gas systems.
- Oversee the work of junior technicians.
- Analyze drawings and specifications to determine installation layouts and necessary materials.
- Conduct tests and adjustments on control mechanisms and inspect pipes for gas leaks using detection devices.
- Replace defective components or equipment as needed.
Responsible for supervising 1 to 2 team members.
Qualifications- Must possess a Gas Fitter Trade Certification.
- Hold a Gas Fitter Certificate - Level 2 or B.
- Hold a Gas Fitter Certificate - Level 3 or C.
Focus on installations related to fireplaces and chimneys.
Safety and Security- Must be bondable.
- Driver's validity license check required.
A valid driver's license is necessary for this position.
Physical Demands- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
- Capable of handling heavy loads and performing physically demanding tasks.
- Attention to detail is crucial, along with the ability to stand for extended periods and perform bending, crouching, and kneeling tasks.
- Must provide own tools.
- Steel-toed safety boots are required.
- Demonstrates accuracy and dependability.
- Strong client focus and excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Exhibits good judgment and is a team player.
