Intelligent Transportation Systems Specialist

Position Overview
As an Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Specialist at Arcadis, you will be instrumental in the execution of ITS initiatives for a diverse range of clients, including governmental and private sector entities. Collaborating closely with senior engineers and project managers, you will engage in various ITS engineering assignments, from initial design concepts to comprehensive systems engineering, feasibility assessments, and technology evaluations. Your role will also involve the preparation of technical documentation and drawings essential for the procurement, construction, and integration of advanced transportation systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-depth research and present technical findings to both internal teams and clients, while developing impactful presentations and detailed reports.
- Create ITS conceptual designs utilizing MS Visio and produce technical drawings using AutoCAD software, including layouts, wiring diagrams, and network schematics.
- Develop and manage project timelines through MS Project and Excel, ensuring all documentation is organized and accessible.
- Effectively coordinate with team members and external stakeholders, including other engineering disciplines, contractors, and regulatory bodies, to ensure seamless integration of ITS designs within broader project frameworks.
- Implement quality assurance measures by thoroughly reviewing drawings and documentation to identify and rectify errors or inconsistencies, ensuring compliance with relevant codes, standards, and project specifications.
- Maintain proficiency in CAD software tools and related applications, including MS Project and Visio, to support design efforts.
- Communicate clearly with team members, clients, and stakeholders to clarify design requirements, address technical challenges, and provide updates on project status. Participate in design meetings and reviews as necessary.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, preferably in Civil or Electrical disciplines.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in ITS design, ideally within the consulting engineering sector, with a solid understanding of ITS engineering principles, technologies, and terminology.
- A detail-oriented approach with strong problem-solving capabilities and a dedication to delivering precise and high-quality work.
- Ability to work autonomously with minimal oversight, as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
