About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer/Project Manager to join our team at MCW Group of Companies. As a key member of our Mechanical and Electrical team, you will be responsible for managing mechanical engineering projects of various sizes and complexity in commercial, residential, and industrial buildings.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Manage project activities from conception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and budget adherence.
  2. Develop and foster client relationships for long-term growth and success.
  3. Work with clients to provide the best and most appropriate design solutions for their projects.
  4. Analyze client design proposals and specifications to determine cost-effective solutions.
  5. Provide guidance to clients, technical staff, and sub-consultants to ensure projects are technically sound and completed successfully.
  6. Coordinate with other disciplines internally and externally to ensure seamless project execution.
  7. Ensure professional quality services in all facets of work.
  8. Provide quality and cost control during the design and construction process.
  9. Lead the project team to ensure technical accuracy of project deliverables.
  10. Oversee the development of staff competence and assist in the training and teaching of new technicians and engineers.
  11. Manage project activities throughout the lifecycle, including resource allocation, documentation, and other factors necessary for success.
  12. Prepare and review specification and concept reports.
  13. Maintain project schedules and project cost summaries to track work progress, budget status, and manpower resource utilization.
  14. Identify and address the need for additional services and fees to clients in a timely fashion.
  15. Work with the field review team during the construction phase and ensure ASHRAE compliance and LEED where applicable.
  16. Stay up-to-date with industry and technical trends, codes, and standards.
  17. Responsible for professionally sealing documents.
Requirements:
Qualifications, Experience, and Education:

Post-secondary education in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant discipline such as Building Systems.

Professional Engineering Designation (P. Eng.) in the Province of Alberta.

10+ years of engineering and/or design coordination experience in the consulting industry would be beneficial.

Experience in multi-disciplined project coordination and management.

LEED Certification is an asset.

Required Skills:
  1. Proven experience leading project teams in designing major engineering projects.
  2. Excellent time management and project management skills.
  3. Strong planning and organizational skills.
  4. Self-starter mentality with a willingness to take ownership of complex engineering problems.
  5. Able to deliver accurate and consistent results in a complex and deadline-driven environment.
  6. Supervisory background and proven leadership skills.
  7. Detailed understanding of project proposal writing.
  8. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to deal effectively with clients and other personnel.
  9. Working knowledge of AutoCAD and REVIT would be an asset.

Comprehensive knowledge of current engineering principles and practices, complemented with a strong knowledge of project management concepts and practices.

Able to communicate ideas and recommendations to non-engineer team members in a clear manner.

Knowledge of Canadian Engineering standards.

Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

High level of sound and independent judgment and reasoning.

Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures.
