Job Title: Education Consultant

We are seeking a highly skilled Education Consultant to join our team at the B.C. College of Nurses and Midwives. As an Education Consultant, you will play a critical role in ensuring that nursing and midwifery education programs in British Columbia meet the highest standards.

About the Role

The Education Consultant will provide confidential consultation to registrants and/or program representatives employed by educational institutions or organizations that offer nursing and midwifery education programs. This will include providing guidance on the education program review process, including ways to incorporate the entry-level competencies and Standards of Practice that graduates of these programs are required to achieve.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead reviews of entry-level nursing and midwifery programs and courses in accordance with the BCCNM Education Program Review Policies and Guidelines for program.
  • Assess all evidence submitted during the program review, drafting reports and briefing notes for the EPRC.
  • Maintain communication with education program administrators and keep them informed of the steps and timing of the program review process.
  • Provide consultation to education programs regarding the requirements for program review and recognition.
  • Support the EPRC in planning and implementing regular policy reviews, including the education standards and indicators.
  • Collaborate with the Director, Education Program Review, to orient EPRC members to BCCNM's mandate, policies, and processes.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Doctoral or master's degree in nursing or midwifery or a related field.
  • Over ten years of experience in nursing or midwifery positions and three to five years as an educator in an educational institution.
  • Experience with curriculum development and evaluation of nursing and midwifery students and program outcomes.
  • Highly developed oral and written communication skills, group facilitation and collaboration skills, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Experience in continuous quality improvement strategy development and short- and long-term strategic planning.
  • Ability to make decisions independently and collaborate with internal staff and external stakeholders.
