Job Title: Health Care Assistant

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Health Care Assistant to join our team at Senior Helpers of Kelowna. As a Health Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care and support to our clients in their own homes.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist clients with activities of daily living, such as bathing, grooming, and dressing
  • Provide support with instrumental activities of daily living, including light housekeeping and meal preparation
  • Monitor and report any changes in the client's condition to the healthcare team
  • Assist with mobility and transferring patients safely
  • Support patients with eating and drinking, adhering to dietary requirements
  • Assist with medication reminders and administration under supervision
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to patients and their families
Qualifications:
  • Compassionate and empathetic demeanor
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to speak and write in English; other languages an asset
Requirements:
  • Current registration with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry
  • Completion of a recognized Health Care Assistant program
  • Previous experience working as a Health Care Assistant in a healthcare setting preferred
  • Negative TB test completed in the past 90 days
  • A negative Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check issued in the past 90 days
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid (preferred)
  • Reliable transportation and flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends
