Key Responsibilities

  • Foster strong relationships with owners, architects, consultants, subcontractors, and the public
  • Provide input on constructability during project engineering phases
  • Ensure project profitability, adherence to schedules, and client satisfaction
  • Assist in labor management and develop three-week look-ahead schedules to meet project milestones and optimize resource allocation
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager or Construction Manager to create a project master schedule, ensuring progress aligns with this schedule and identifying any needs or deficiencies
  • Oversee the project budget and devise recovery strategies when schedules or budgets are at risk
  • Plan and supervise project activities, including construction methods, manpower, material quantities, equipment, and work schedules
  • Ensure productivity, efficient use of materials and equipment, and compliance with contractual obligations
  • Accountable for the quality of completed work and recommend improvements to work processes
  • Identify training needs for the crew and facilitate training delivery
  • Promote a culture of safety and be accountable for crew safety, understanding the legal responsibilities of the role
  • Ensure crew members adhere to safety standards and are fit for work daily
  • Conduct safety toolbox meetings
  • Understand and enforce compliance with all company policies and procedures
  • Address and resolve issues among crews
  • Work with end-users in occupied buildings to minimize disruption during mechanical operations
  • Prepare reports as required by management
  • Maintain a Superintendent's log or diary
  • Recommend personnel actions such as hiring, promotions, and disciplinary measures
  • Perform additional duties as needed

Required Qualifications

  • A valid Journeyperson Plumber or Pipefitter certificate
  • Completion of Construction Safety Training Systems (CSTS)
  • Current Standard First Aid certification
  • Previous supervisory experience, typically evidenced by at least 5 years as a Foreperson
