Overview
The Team
The Consumer Taxation Audit Branch (CTAB) plays a vital role in ensuring tax compliance throughout British Columbia. The audit team operates across various locations, conducting audits under multiple acts related to the province's consumption tax systems. The branch is dedicated to fostering a supportive work environment that enhances individual strengths and promotes professional growth.
The Role
As a Tax Compliance Auditor within CTAB, your primary responsibility will be to strategize and execute tax audits for businesses within British Columbia. Comprehensive training will equip you to determine tax liabilities, propose audit assessments, finalize agreements with taxpayers, and encourage future compliance. Your efforts will contribute to identifying and recovering unpaid provincial revenues, which are essential for funding public services such as education and healthcare.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possession of a professional accounting designation (CPA - CA, CGA, CMA) from a recognized Canadian Accounting Association, along with a minimum of two years of auditing or accounting experience.
Note: If your designation was obtained outside Canada, it must be assessed for equivalency by a recognized Canadian Accounting Association. Proof of equivalency is required by the application deadline.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel at an intermediate level, including skills in working with pivot tables, managing multiple worksheets, and performing data analysis tasks.
- A valid Class 5 BC driver's license or equivalent (Ontario Class G) is required, with no learner's restrictions.
Willingness Statements
- Willingness to travel outside the province for initial training may be necessary.
Position Details
Currently, multiple positions are available. Successful candidates must be located in Ontario at the time of employment. Flexible work arrangements are available, allowing for remote work up to five days a week, subject to an approved telework agreement. A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required for this position.
