Job Summary

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for preparing all payroll paperwork required for hourly payroll, reviewing time and attendance systems, and ensuring accurate and timely preparation and distribution of records of employment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and process payroll paperwork, including time and attendance records, for hourly staff.
  • Review and reconcile time and attendance systems to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies.
  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation and distribution of records of employment.
  • Perform payroll processing and reconciliation in the absence of the Payroll Manager.
  • Assist department heads in setting up computerized scheduling modules based on their labor standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of payroll documentation and transactions.
  • Input daily gratuities for room service attendants and Bellmen into worksheets.
  • Produce a labor report on a daily basis based on company standards.
  • Balance and prepare union contribution reports for each pay period.
  • Maintain hourly and salaried staff time off (vacation) balances.
Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in a payroll or HR department.
  • Knowledge in accounting, including journals and reconciliations.
  • Previous knowledge in working with automated time management and payroll systems.
  • Exceptional computer skills and advanced knowledge in Excel.
  • Knowledgeable in all payroll legislations and associated employment standards.
  • Experience in working with 500+ employees payroll with labor union environment an asset.
Education
  • College Diploma.
  • Canadian Payroll Association approved courses - Level One completion preferred.
Soft Skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Language
  • Fluent in English.
  • Second language an asset.
Physical Requirements
  • Able to sit for long periods of time.
