About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Carpenter Lead Hand to join our team at BG Custom Homes Limited. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for overseeing the installation of various carpentry components, including framing, finishing, and trim work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of carpentry team members to ensure projects are completed on time and to a high standard.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine work requirements and ensure compliance with building codes.
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials.
  • Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems.
  • Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings, and hardware.
  • Schedule and coordinate work on sites, ensuring efficient use of resources and minimizing delays.
  • Instruct apprentices and provide guidance and support to junior team members.
  • Maintain, repair, and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants, and other establishments.
Requirements
  • 5 years or more of experience in carpentry, with a strong background in supervisory roles.
  • Carpenter Trade Certification and Red Seal Certificate.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) training, Working at Heights training, First Aid Certificate, CPR Certificate, and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate.
  • Valid driver's license and own vehicle.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
