About the Role

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a Director, Human Resources & Labour Relations Services to join our team. As a key member of the People leadership team, you will play a critical role in establishing alignment of People Team HR Services with VCH strategic and operational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the operations of HR and employee relations services, ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of services.
  • Formulate, implement, and evaluate strategies to deliver leading practice HR service model to meet the current and future needs of the portfolio and VCH organizational objectives.
  • Provide expert advice and consultation to senior leadership regarding human resource and employee relations issues.
  • Lead the strategic planning/design, implementation, promotion, evaluation, and maintenance of the processes, infrastructure, and resources related to effective human resource and employee relations practice and operations.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to a team of human resource professionals using effective management techniques.
  • Foster collaboration, trust, and mutual respect and inspires others in achieving strategic goals.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Education, training, and experience equivalent to a Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or Health Administration plus ten (10) years' recent, relevant, progressive leadership experience in a large multi-union organization.

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with key internal and external partners to promote and enhance services provided with sensitivity to diversity and indigenous lens.
  • Ability to effectively lead and support management teams, inspiring a shared vision that aligns with organization goals, objectives, and strategies.
  • Utilizes comprehensive knowledge of integrated human resources services, health sector labour relations, and arbitration process, collective agreements, and legislation to identify, develop, and implement strategies and initiatives.
