In the role of Lead, Occupational Hygiene, reporting directly to the Superintendent of Compliance and Management Systems, you will oversee the Occupational Health and Hygiene (OH&H) performance at our operations. Your expertise will guide the implementation of OH&H management systems and programs, ensuring that operational goals for OH&H improvements are met through collaboration with management, staff, and contractors.
Key Responsibilities:- Exemplify strong safety leadership by adhering to and promoting safety and environmental protocols.
- Develop and implement Occupational Health and Hygiene programs that align with Teck’s standards and regulatory requirements, focusing on minimizing risks and exposures.
- Conduct physical and chemical exposure monitoring and assessment studies to ensure workplace safety.
- Analyze and interpret data to recommend effective mitigation strategies.
- Facilitate the creation and execution of annual site exposure reduction plans.
- Manage occupational health improvement initiatives and related activities.
- Provide expert guidance in OH&H and lead the team in resource allocation to support operational needs.
- Design and deliver training programs, including 'train the trainer' sessions, focused on health and hygiene.
- Maintain productive relationships with regulatory bodies, unions, and operational teams.
- Ensure accurate records of workplace exposures are maintained to track trends and report to stakeholders.
- Oversee medical surveillance initiatives and utilize exposure monitoring data to ensure comprehensive coverage of workgroups.
- Guide and mentor safety personnel on Occupational Health and Hygiene practices, fostering professional development within the OH&H team.
- Manage budgetary requirements for operational and capital expenditures related to health and hygiene.
- Develop and oversee risk assessments related to hygiene and health improvements.
- Coordinate with external hygiene consultants to ensure high-quality deliverables.
- Act as a subject matter expert on OH&H matters within site committees and teams.
- A degree in Occupational Hygiene or a related scientific field, with a preference for a graduate degree.
- Certification as an Industrial Hygienist from the American Board of Industrial Hygiene or as a Registered Occupational Hygienist from the Canadian Registration Board.
- A minimum of five years of experience in evaluating and controlling occupational exposures in industrial settings.
- In-depth knowledge of Health and Safety regulations and the ability to interpret complex regulations and their implications.
- Familiarity with safety leadership principles and the significance of effective influence.
- Strong communication skills, capable of engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Experience with occupational hygiene data management systems is an asset.

Salary Range: $117,000 - $144,500
The offered base salary will reflect the successful candidate's relevant experience, skills, and competencies, while also considering internal equity.
