The Greater Essex County District School Board is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Payroll Supervisor to lead the payroll process for all employee groups. This is a permanent, full-time position within the Business Department, reporting to the Manager of Financial Services.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the payroll process for all employee groups, ensuring timely and accurate processing of bi-weekly payroll in a large multi-union environment.
- Provide expertise and customer service to internal and external stakeholders, handling multiple deadlines and changing priorities.
- Supervise all areas of business related to payroll, ensuring compliance with policy guidelines.
- Prepare and submit payroll-related reports to external agencies, including the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS), and Ontario Teachers Pension Plan (OTPP).
- Perform month-end reconciliations for payroll-related accounts.
- Develop reports for accounting supervisors and inform the budget process.
- Serve as a liaison with Human Resources Services Department and external auditors on payroll-related matters.
- Perform payroll research assignments as required.
- Diploma in Business Administration or equivalent, with a preference for accounting.
- Payroll Leadership Professional (PLP) designation or ability to obtain within three years.
- Successful supervisory experience, preferably in a unionized environment.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
