Position Overview:

We are seeking a diligent, results-driven, and professional Purchasing Agent to support our operations.

Role Summary:

Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, the Purchasing Agent is responsible for providing timely procurement support for construction activities related to our nuclear power generation projects. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge and experience in Supply Chain and Purchasing principles, alongside a solid understanding of technical, quality, safety, and business regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and comprehend technical, quality, safety, schedule, and commercial requirements for each Purchase Requisition or procurement task
  • Develop or implement existing procurement strategies to meet project needs
  • Prepare and distribute RFQs to suppliers, evaluate and negotiate quotes, and document supplier selection rationale
  • Create, manage, and issue Purchase Orders in accordance with company protocols
  • Oversee supplier performance until the completion of Purchase Order deliverables, including acceptance of manufacturing shop-drawings and test plans
  • Address any supplier non-conformance issues related to quality, technical specifications, schedule, and commercial terms
  • Assist the Estimating department by sourcing valid quotes as necessary
  • Facilitate the development of existing and new supplier relationships
  • Manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines
  • Communicate efficiently with all stakeholders, including suppliers, customers, and internal departments (Project Management, Engineering, Quality Assurance, Procurement Engineering, Warehouse, Safety, Construction, Finance, etc.)
  • Adhere to company procedures
  • Eligibility for security clearance is required

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A diploma or degree in a business-related field is required; a focus on supply chain management is preferred
  • Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation or equivalent is advantageous
  • Comprehensive understanding of the purchasing lifecycle is essential
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities
  • Customer service-oriented
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Projects)
  • Experience in the construction industry or related fields is beneficial
  • Familiarity with Nuclear QA programs, codes, and standards (CSA N299, N285, N286, ASME III, ISO 9001) is a plus
  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience is preferred
