Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Operating Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the overall operations of Garden River First Nation Education Unit, including infrastructure, operational controls, performance measurement, and risk management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement business strategies to drive the organization forward
  • Establish, evaluate, and enhance operational effectiveness, including operational compliance and controls
  • Monitor changes in the portfolio's risk profile and investigate material shifts in risk
  • Manage relationships with third-party providers, including the school custodian and data management provider
  • Oversee and refine performance measurement and risk management systems
  • Develop and enhance reporting tools to facilitate investment management and asset allocation selection process
  • Work closely with the Finance Department to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 10 years related experience required
  • Extensive working knowledge and demonstrated progressive experience of at least 15 years in investment or education operations with a focus on endowment management, asset management, finance, or related areas strongly preferred
  • Operations, accounting, audit, risk management, or database development and programming experience in an investment or trading operation is preferred
