Senior Archaeologist and Indigenous Relations Specialist

AECOM is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Archaeologist and Indigenous Relations Specialist to join our team in BC. This is a unique opportunity to lead archaeological field programs, develop project proposals, and consult with Indigenous communities.
Key Responsibilities- Lead archaeological field programs, including consultation with Indigenous communities, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Develop project proposals and business development activities to grow our archaeological portfolios.
- Write technical archaeological assessment reports and assist with project budgeting and scheduling.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of archaeological programs and services, and identify areas for improvement.
- Consult with Indigenous Peoples and communities in B.C. on archaeology projects, including developing consultation plans and identifying mitigation and accommodation measures.
- Work with multi-disciplinary teams and project managers to develop archaeological and Indigenous consultation strategies.
- Lead Indigenous relations engagement activities, including site tours, advisory committees, community meetings, and public open houses.
- Bachelor's degree and/or technical diploma in archaeology.
- 6 years of relevant experience, including experience with Indigenous consultation and engagement in B.C.
- Must be able to hold a permit to complete archaeological assessments in one or more B.C. Culture Areas.
- Valid class 5 driver's license.
- 8+ years of relevant experience.
- Existing relationships with Indigenous communities in B.C. with an understanding of regional and community characteristics.
- Acknowledge of the unique historical, contemporary, cultural, and traditional characteristics of Indigenous communities in B.C.
- Experience working on large infrastructure projects in B.C.
