About the Role

AECOM is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Archaeologist and Indigenous Relations Specialist to join our team in BC. This is a unique opportunity to lead archaeological field programs, develop project proposals, and consult with Indigenous communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead archaeological field programs, including consultation with Indigenous communities, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Develop project proposals and business development activities to grow our archaeological portfolios.
  • Write technical archaeological assessment reports and assist with project budgeting and scheduling.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of archaeological programs and services, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Consult with Indigenous Peoples and communities in B.C. on archaeology projects, including developing consultation plans and identifying mitigation and accommodation measures.
  • Work with multi-disciplinary teams and project managers to develop archaeological and Indigenous consultation strategies.
  • Lead Indigenous relations engagement activities, including site tours, advisory committees, community meetings, and public open houses.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and/or technical diploma in archaeology.
  • 6 years of relevant experience, including experience with Indigenous consultation and engagement in B.C.
  • Must be able to hold a permit to complete archaeological assessments in one or more B.C. Culture Areas.
  • Valid class 5 driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Existing relationships with Indigenous communities in B.C. with an understanding of regional and community characteristics.
  • Acknowledge of the unique historical, contemporary, cultural, and traditional characteristics of Indigenous communities in B.C.
  • Experience working on large infrastructure projects in B.C.
