About the Opportunity

Northern Employment Solutions Inc is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Supervisor to join our team. As a Mechanical Supervisor, you will play a key role in the success of our client's mining operations in Canada.

Job Responsibilities
  • Project Management: Manage project contractors by monitoring and controlling performance, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Operational Excellence: Contribute to strategic plans and constructability reviews, implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards.
  • Financial Management: Monitor project expenditures, identify variances, and implement corrective actions to ensure that projects are delivered within budget.
  • Construction Management: Contribute to project scope definition, estimating, enforcing standards and protocols, allocating resources, scheduling and coordinating contractor works, evaluating milestone assumptions and conclusions, and resolving design problems.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Comply with and enforce various regulations and codes to prevent orders and interruptions.
  • Health and Safety: Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures.
  • Organizational Excellence: Enhance organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Post-secondary education in Mechanical engineering technology preferred; considerable experience in related field will be considered in lieu.
  • 5+ years' experience in managing the execution of small to medium size projects.
  • Knowledge of project management techniques (i.e., critical path method, progress measurement and earned value technique) and experience in estimation, cost monitoring, analyzing and reporting is an asset.
  • A Millwright trades background will be considered an asset.
  • Good organizational skills are required with attention to details.
  • Ability to establish priorities and work under pressure to meet project deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of regular financial and procurement processes, preferably in construction or engineering projects is an asset.
  • Solid report writing, communication and presentation skills.
  • Effective problem-solving skills with a results-oriented approach.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Good work ethic and strong attitude towards safety.
  • Sound interpersonal and management skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a team of employees.
  • Knowledge of Ontario OH&S Act & Regulations is considered an asset.
  • Experience working at a remote work site is considered an asset.
