Aging and Wellbeing Research Assistant

Position Overview:
This role is part of the Temporary Research Positions (Employee Group) at Brock University, a prominent institution recognized for its commitment to diversity and excellence in education.
Opportunity: We are seeking a dedicated Research Assistant to join the Department of Recreation and Leisure Studies within the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences.
Project Focus: The research initiative, titled SOARWell-AiP, aims to investigate the sociotechnical aspects of wellbeing and aging in place through the use of voice-activated virtual assistants.
Supervision: The successful candidate will work under the guidance of Dr. Alisa Grigorovich.
Role Responsibilities:
- Assist in the recruitment, screening, and onboarding of research participants.
- Provide training and technical support for participants using Google voice-activated virtual assistants.
- Collect and organize survey data effectively.
- Conduct semi-structured interviews with participants to gather qualitative insights.
- Analyze qualitative data and contribute to the coding process.
- Prepare knowledge translation materials for both community and academic audiences, including website content and summaries.
- Edit and proofread various documents as required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the research team.
Qualifications:
- Current doctoral student with a strong background in qualitative data analysis.
- Willingness to travel for participant engagement.
- Proficient in NVivo or similar qualitative analysis software.
- Experience with survey methodologies and familiarity with quantitative analysis is advantageous.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent written communication and organizational abilities.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Technical knowledge and experience with voice-activated virtual assistants is a plus.
