BioNorth Energy is seeking a highly skilled 2nd Class Power Engineer to join our team in Fort St. James, BC. As a key member of our Operations Team, you will be responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of our 40-megawatt biomass power generation facility.
Responsibilities- Maintain a safe work environment and ensure all safety requirements are met or exceeded.
- Perform related duties to ensure the cleanliness and general upkeep of the plant and outside operations.
- Closely liaise and communicate with staff and maintenance department to ensure consistent operations of the steam plant and auxiliary equipment.
- Facilitate the reliable supply of services to the plant.
- Direct shift crew.
- Operate a wide variety of equipment.
- Provide operational expertise to resolve frequently changing process conditions.
- Identify plant improvements.
- Ensure good communication and cooperation with corporate teams.
- Ensure good communication with stakeholder representatives.
- Follow all workplace safety policies and compliance regulations.
- Provide internal and external Customer Service excellence.
- BC or interprovincial 2nd Class Power Engineering certificate or you are a 3rd Class Power Engineer with papers on Second.
- Minimum five years of experience as a power engineer in a biomass plant.
- Experience with power plant operations and working with boilers, pulp mills, or biomass.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Must be familiar with PLC and control systems.
- Ability to read or interpret diagrams, schematic drawings and manuals to determine work procedures.
- Confined space experience and lock out training.
- Strong safety mindset.
- Excellent work ethic and positive team attitude.
- Internal and external customer service skills.
- Demonstrates strong communication skills both verbally and written.
- Strong computer skills with proficiency using Microsoft Office programs.
- Strong leadership and training abilities.
