Become our next Senior Architect

In this position, you will integrate into the infrastructure team of the Northern Engineering Sector, based in the Thunder Bay office.

Your daily responsibilities at EXP will include:

  • Creating construction documents in collaboration with a multidisciplinary project team of architects and engineers.
  • Coordinating project specifications and the development of construction documents with subconsultants.
  • Overseeing the timeliness and quality of architectural technical document submissions to clients and other project stakeholders.
  • Conducting code reviews and meeting independently with local code officials to assess specific local code requirements and project compliance.
  • Managing the preparation of all architectural technical document packages and related submissions for planning, approvals, and specifications.
  • Identifying and managing project risks along with associated mitigation strategies.
  • Performing tasks during the bid and construction phases, including site visits, reviewing shop drawings, responding to requests for information, and issuing clarifications.
  • Assisting in the proposal stage for projects, RFPs, and client requests.
  • Leading the development of design alternatives using various media, including computer visualization and physical models.
  • Ensuring that both internal and external client needs are met while delivering projects within budget, quality, and schedule targets.
  • Leading and/or participating in regular project meetings to keep stakeholders informed about project progress and ensure their needs are prioritized.
  • Developing presentation documents and delivering design presentations to clients.

Your qualifications should include:

  • A degree in architecture from an accredited university; a Bachelor's degree is required.
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role.
  • Proven ability to utilize design software effectively.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of all phases of architectural and engineering practices.
  • Expertise in producing contract documents, including technical specifications.
  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Experience with medium-sized projects.
  • Familiarity with Sketchup, Photoshop, 3D Studio, Rhino, V-Ray, and other imaging and rendering software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience in client interactions.
  • In-depth knowledge of building construction systems, methods, materials, and industry standards.
